It is well known that Ancient civilizations (like Greece & Rome) also suffered from the trappings of patriarchy, and it’s something I’m aware of. Similarly, it’s well known that Hellenistic Greece had a liberal approach to sexuality that stopped being a cultural norm a pretty long time ago. This is why I agree with Dr. Halberstam that it’s dangerous to assume that the ancient Greeks or Romans linked tribadism strictly to the erotic rubbing of two vulvas. If that sentiment got lost in this article, then this comment can clarify that that was what I was hoping to convey.
